Magicians and magic enthusiasts around the world have come to know
The Magic Castle as the ultimate magic clubhouse and home of the Academy
of Magical Arts, Inc.
The Academy of Magical Arts, Inc. was created by Milt and Bill Larsen
Jr. Milt discovered a Victorian mansion built in 1908 in the hills above
Hollywood, and the rest is history.
The Academy's purpose is to encourage and promote public interest in
the art of magic with particular emphasis on preserving its history as
an art form, entertainment medium, and hobby.
When you become a member, the Magic Castle becomes your Magic Castle. You and your guests can enjoy the unique talents of the Magic Castle's world-class performers and dine in Victorian splendor. Members can also enjoy a special Friday lunch, Sunday Brunches (a treat for the whole family), and a wide variety of members-only events. As a member, you also have the privilege of issuing guest passes to your friends and business associates so they too can visit the Castle.
Magician members can also take advantage of the Magic Castle's extensive
library of books, videos, DVDs, and periodicals exploring the world
of the magical arts, and can attend lectures presented by some of
the world's foremost experts in the world of magic.
The Academy of Magical Arts, Inc. consists of both Magician Members and Associate
Magician Members are magicians who are actively practicing magic either as a hobby or career. To qualify for magician membership, you will be interviewed by the Membership Committee. This is a in-person interview, during which you will be asked a series of questions to determine your level of knowledge and interest in magic. Next, you will be asked to demonstrate some simple magic effects before the committee. You should be ready to perform a ten-minute routine in any of area of magic (such as cards, coins, ropes, mentalism, or other areas). You do not need to be a seasoned performer or highly skilled to become a Magician Member; you can also qualify for Magician Membership if you are a magic historian, scholar, or inventor.
Non-Resident Magician Membership:
Non-Resident Magician members must have a background in magic. All Non-Resident Magician Member applicants must live at least 60 miles outside of the club.
Associate Members are persons over the age of 21 years of age and love the art of magic and The Magic Castle. Many of our Associate Members are professionals
in the entertainment industry, but many are simply those who wish to enjoy the benefits of our unique club. You do not need to be a magician to join as an Associate. However, the Academy of Magical Arts does provide Magic Classes for adults wishing to learn the art of magic.
Non-Resident Associate Membership:
Non-Resident Associate members do not need to have any magical background. All Non-Resident applicants must live outside the California Counties of Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside, Orange and/or San Bernardino.
